Six Steps to Personal Goal Setting

Six practical steps to goal setting and how to implement them TODAY. No matter what you're going through, a simple six step plan will have you watching your biggest goals play in front of you like a movie.

1. Think It through Every great idea starts as a thought. And it's the default step you can't skip. Don't take this first step for granted. But sit and entertain your idea(s) alone in your head. There's no general rule for this process. This test if it sticks.  2. Write it down Because thoughts are always moving, ideas come a dime a dozen. So writing one down makes it more real and not just a thought. 3. Plan measurable actions When you have a goal in mind, planning is that much easier. When planning towards short and long term goals, it's important to prioritize the end goal. Your plans should always point back to your original goal.  4. Take action Taking any step towards a goal without a plan is a recipe for unnecessary activity. Every step that you take, should align with your plans, which ultimately  gets you one step closer to fulfilling your goal(s). 5. Share your goals with trusted and like minded individuals  This last step is to be discerned. But sharing your goal(s) once you've already made plans and began steps leaves you in the clear for the old myth. They say the more you talk about your goals the less likely you're to do them. Sometimes talking makes you feel like you're doing more than you actually are. But sharing your goal is step 5, the step AFTER concrete plans and action has already been taken. 6. Repeat step 1 through 5 There's a cyclical manner to goal setting, which is why the last step is to do it all over again. Don't skip a step in the name of confidence or familiarity.
